My husband and I often take walks around the neighborhood and are always amazed by the colorful flowers planted in the front yard. We wanted to add some color to our front/back yards; thus, we're testing out gladiolus corms this year. While we started some straight into pots, we also started a different batch in tiny transplant pots so when they bloom, we'll transfer them to to our front yard.
According to the research we have done, gladiolus are perennials. With southern California mild weather, we learned we can leave them in the soil through the winter and they will re-surface the next spring. They are also supposed to be excellent cut flowers so we hope to be able to share them with our family and friends when they bloom. Come visit us in a few months!
